Floriculture is the field of study that involves the cultivation of flowers and plant to use for business purposes. Pakistan has tremendous potential for growing high-quality flowers. But the country doesn’t cultivate enough flowers to trade them in the international market. Only a few agriculturalists are growing flowers. The country has favourable conditions to cultivate flowers. However, owing to the lack of attention paid by the relevant authorities, the country is lagging behind in this field. The production of flowers, especially roses, is a lucrative business. The country can earn sufficient amount of foreign exchange if the flower trade is practised on a large scale. The higher authorities must tap on this sector to increase the country’s exports.
It is also observed that only a small number of people studies about floriculture. In the absence of experts, the sector cannot be improved. The concerned authorities have to do a lot of work to improve this sector. Scholarships should be announced so that more students can get admission. In addition, new technologies should be adopted to cultivate and arrange flowers. To grow other varieties of flowers, loans should be given to the concerned departments, as they will play an important role in boosting the economy of the country.
