LAHORE

Claims of the Price Control Committee to ensure implementation of rate list and stop overcharging proved wrong as no price list was issued on Sunday for Eid holidays because price magistrates and market committee officials had gone for Eid holidays.

Massive overcharging was observed across the city in the absence of the government officials and non-availability of the price list with vendors and shopkeepers. No weekly makeshift market was established while special Ramazan bazaars were also closed a day before. Hence, the buyers were at the mercy of vendors and shopkeepers while the price control committee made some photo session visits a day before on Saturday at the super markets of the city where also imposed fine on some mega stores. However, the price control committee headed by its chairman was not seen anywhere in the city while special arrangements claimed by it for Eid holidays to control the artificial price-hike proved a mere joke.

The vendors and shopkeepers across the city charged their will prices along with Eidi on the items they sold.
