ICT Internship Programme to get Rs284m

Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoIT) would provide Rs284 million funds for programme, envisioned to give unemployed ICT youth to get professional experience as well as potential for future job placement.
A project has been planned with an aim to impart training by placing 3,000 Information and Communication Technology (ICT) graduate in companies and IT departments of public and private sector organisations for six months' paid internship.
A stipend of Rs15,000 per month will be paid to an intern. Official sources Friday a total of 30 per cent quota is being reserved for girls and two per cent quota for disabled candidates. The sources said unemployment of ICT educated graduates is a major challenge being faced by Pakistan.
Further, the potential employers/companies are many times reluctant to hire these unemployed and fresh ICT graduates due to cost and related risks involved.
