Medical camp at GCU

LAHORE

A three-day medical camp was set up at the Government College University (GCU) by its Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and Punjab AIDS Control Programme for the free medical checkup of the university's students, faculty members and staff.

Their blood samples were screened for hepatitis B, C, syphilis and HIV/AIDS, and hepatitis B vaccination was administered to them.  

GCU-QEC Director Iram Sohail said more than 1,000 students and staff members were screened and provided with free vaccine of hepatitis B, “And if anyone diagnosed with hepatitis would be provided with free of cost treatment and medical advice by the Punjab AIDS Control Programme,” she said. Later, pamphlets and other awareness material against hepatitis B, C, syphilis and HIV/AIDS were also distributed among students.

Actress murder accused acquitted

Additional District and Sessions Judge Saif Ullah Sohil on Saturday acquitted five accused of murder of stage actress Kismet Baig after her mother and brother refused to recognise them. The police had booked Habib, Rizwan, Abid, Azam and another in the case. —Correspondent
