This is to draw the attention of the healthcare department of the Sindh government to an important issue of the outbreak of chikungunya. In Karachi five patients have been reported to have the virus.
The viral disease is caused by mosquitoes – the population of which, thanks to Karachi’s sanitary condition, is quite dense. At present, no proper treatment is available in hospitals across the city. It is being feared that the deadly virus will take away the lives of many, if the provincial government doesn’t take immediate action. Awareness programmes should be conducted to educate people how they can tackle the issue.
