JIT meeting to investigate blasphemous content
Help sought from ISI, IB; Jibran Nasir not guilty of blasphemy
as per investigations so far
ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency Director Mazharul Haq Kakakhel has approached ISI and IB for help regarding the investigation into rampant blasphemous content on social media.
In this context, a seven-member committee’s meeting was held on Saturday, which was attended by FIA Director Training Yaseen, FIA Deputy Director Shoaib Azeem, PTA Director General Web Monitoring Nisar Khan, SP Mustafa Tanveer and some representatives of ISI.
The statements of three arrested accused were analysed in the meeting to probe into the posting of blasphemous content on social media.
During the meeting, the opinions of investigators, who were recording the statement of the accused, were also obtained.
In the meeting, it was also told that the accusations against civil society’s activist Jibran Nasir were not proved. It was mentioned that Jibran Nasir was not found guilty of blasphemy as per the investigations conducted so far.
According to the sources, the process to widen the scope of investigations was also devised in the meeting.
