Mild earthquake panics Islooites

Islamabad: Panic spread among the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi after an earthquake of mild intensity hit the twin cities on Tuesday morning.

However, no damage to public life or property was reported.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the tremors measured 4.0 on the Richter scale, had epicentre near Hazro town in Attock district and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres.

The earthquake was also reported in Swabi, Nowshera, Haripur, Mansehra, Wah cantonment, Attock and Abbottabad.

The people rushed out of houses and workplaces, especially those located in high-rise buildings, in panic reciting ‘Kalima’.  On Monday, too, an earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale had hit parts of Balochistan with epicentre being near Hazro town.  It didn't cause any damage to public life.
