Seminar on ‘Pakistan Day’ held

To celebrate the "Pakistan Day" in a befitting manner, a seminar on the topic "Importance of Pakistan Day and Role of our National Heroes" was organized jointly by Pakistan National Movement and Government Degree College for Women, Rahmatabad, here on Monday.

Muhammad Yousuf Aziz, President of Pakistan National Movement speaking on the occasion said that Pakistan Day is an important event in our history as this was the day when the whole Muslim leadership of South Asia chalked out a comprehensive strategy and plan to carve an independent and sovereign Muslim state for the safeguard of their ideology, socio-political rights and future of their coming generations.

Muhammad Yousuf Aziz said every nation celebrates its historical and National Days to remember and inculcate patriotism among their new generations, hence we should also eulogies day in and day out political efforts of our national heroes like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Iqbal and Chaudhary Rahmat Ali.

He appreciated the Government decision to arrange, extend and celebrate the events of Pakistan Day up to our Independence Day till August 14, of the instant and urged the student, younger generation writers, poets and men of letters to fully participate in these events. Prof Farah Deba, Principal of the college, Prof Asima Saleem, HoD Dept of History, Viqar un-Nisa, Prof. Fouzia Anjum, Mrs Shamshad, Prof Dr. Irum Naz, Nazir Tabbassum Gorci Secretary PNM, Prof. Nazia Bashir Ms. Kiran Kiani, Aqsa Jehangir and number of college students also spoke on the occasion and highlighted various aspects of Pakistan Day and historical efforts of our national heroes.

National songs and quiz program about various events of Pakistan Movement were also held, wherein students wearing regional costumes represented different colours of our culture.

The winning students were awarded distinction certificates and cash awards. Mr. Muhammad Yousuf Aziz also donated handsome books on various aspects of Pakistan Movement to the Library of the college.
