BANNU: Residents and elected representatives of the area took out protest rally against the shifting of the proposed Government Girls’ Degree College in Bannu Township on Saturday.
Led by Liaqat Ali Khan, Domail tehsil nazim Fida Muhammad Khan and district councillor Anwar Khan, the protesters carrying banners and placards chanted slogans against Member National Assembly (MNA) Ayesha Gulalai, provincial transport minister and the district administration for shifting the planned college from the township.
They said that the Awami National Party in its government had approved the college for Bannu Township and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership in the area wanted to shift it from the area. It would be strongly resisted, they said.
“We have given land for the construction of the college in the underdeveloped area,” one Anwar Khan said, adding that decision of shifting the proposed college was against the will of the people.
