PML-N, not PPP, doing politics of 90s: Khursheed
Says if PPP had kept silent during PTI sit-in,
system would have collapsed
FAISALABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Monday said the PPP was not doing the 90s’ politics but it was the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He said if his party had kept silent during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s sit-in, the entire system would have collapsed.Shah, while speaking to journalists on Monday, said that the entry of a Qatar prince in the PanamaLeaks had raised several suspicions. “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has never before mentioned the Qatar prince. Using him to save the prime minister is distressing.”
Khursheed Shah said it was shameful to use a letter from the Qatari prince to save his premiership. He said that the skepticism surrounding the Panamagate scandal developed into conviction as the letter from the Qatari prince had substantiated these doubts.
There was no mention of the Qatari prince in the whole story but it was quite shameful to present the letter to salvage the premiership, he observed.Khursheed Shah said previously the office of the army chief was made controversial; however, this time round, such thing did not happen
“The ball is now in the prime minister’s court,” he said, adding that it was up to the prime minister to show how much he respected parliament.Shah said that the PPP was an anti-establishment party and even today it was considered anti-establishment. “Why should the PPP Khursheed Shah said that the PPP believed in supremacy of Parliament and all national issues should be settled through consultation.
He said that the PPP had rendered unprecedented sacrifices for democracy and it would continue working to strengthen democratic institutions in the country. Khursheed Shah visited the mausoleum of Maulana Sardar Ahmad Qadri at Sunni Rizvi Masjid, Jhang Bazaar and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
PPP Central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira former federal minister Rana Farooq, Saeed Khan and other PPP local leaders were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the PPP had left its politics of 90’s, however the PML-N was still stuck in that. “Nawaz Sharif asks his favourites to give statements in his favour. Why does he not clarify himself?”
In documents submitted to the Supreme Court, a letter says that the Qatar Prince Jasim gave money to the premier’s family for the purchase of flats in London. Sharif’s children’s counsel Akram Sheikh submitted the letter addressed to the apex court.
