Cop dismissed, two suspended

MANSEHRA: One constable was dismissed and two others suspended for torturing a citizen in a theft case, an official said on Monday.
Jamal Zeb, public relations officer of the Mansehra police, told reporters that Constable Muhammad Mudassar, Hafeezur Rehman and Mohammad Waqar had picked up one Mohammad Naveed, resident of Khollah Hamshirian, without fulfilling legal formalities in a theft case.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Naveed Ahmad was innocent and had been picked up without any lawful authority. The District Police Officer Ahsan Saifullah dismissed Mudassar from service and suspended Hafeezur Rehman and Mohammad Waqar. An inquiry was initiated against them.
