Bannu lawyers protest ‘torture’ of colleague by SHO
BANNU: The legal fraternity on Monday boycotted the court proceedings and staged a protest against the arrest and alleged torture of a colleague by the police and demanded action against the cops of the Sadar Police Station.
The protesting lawyers gathered in front of the Sadar Police Station and staged the protest. President District Bar Association Wasim Khan was leading the protesters.
The speakers said that a lawyer, Naseeb Khan, and his client were leaving the court premises after a local court cancelled the arrest warrant of his client.They alleged that the Station House Officer Haider Ali Shah intercepted the lawyer and his client and put them in a lockup.
The speakers alleged that the said cop made the lawyer and his client to wear masks and tortured them in custody.They said that complaints had been made to the police high-ups against Hailder Ali Shah but to no avail.
The lawyers demanded the police high-ups to take note of the incident and transfer the cop.They announced to continue boycott of the court proceedings until action was taken against the cop.
