Bahria University holds 16th convocation

Bahria University Islamabad Campus held its 16th convocation on Monday at Jinnah Convention Centre here. Chief of the Naval Staff and Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M) was the chief guest of the ceremony and conferred degrees on the graduating students of Ph.D, masters and undergraduate programmes.
In total 519 degrees were awarded to the undergraduate and graduate students of Management Sciences department, Humanities & Social Sciences department, Computer Sciences department, Computer Engineering Department, Law Department, Earth & Environmental Sciences department, Electrical Engineering department and Software Engineering Department.
Chief of the Naval Staff and Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M) awarded 15 gold and 10 silver medals to various students who achieved top positions in their respective programs.
Hassan bin Tila, Aamina Ihsan, Azka Nawaz, Anza Maher, Sana Latif and Nimra Naveed from Management Sciences, Bakhtawar Fatima Abbasi, Umair Amjad and Zobia Huda of Environmental Sciences, Qudsia Musharraf of Social Sciences, Maria Hanif of Software Engineering, Sara Mughal and Romana Talat of Computer Sciences, and Imran Siddique of Electrical Engineering and Khadija Khalid of Law Department received the gold medals in their respective disciplines.
Addressing on the occasion, Pro-Chancellor of the university congratulated the graduating students on their splendid success and lauded Bahria University Islamabad Campus for providing exceptional knowledge skills to the graduated students in their respective disciplines that will enable them to lead a professionally rewarding life. He appreciated the role of Bahria University for contributing in strengthening human resource of the country. He expressed pleasure to learn that Bahria University has incorporated extra measures to promote multi-faceted education and offering merit scholarships ‘Qarz-e-Hasna’ and study loan scheme for needy students. He further appreciated the efforts of University management as they are emphasising on skills development of the students that will make Bahria University an attractive institution for teaching and learning. He encouraged the graduating students by advising them to be original, creative and to follow their passion and dreams and urged the academia to contribute something of value to the society.
Earlier in his welcome address Bahria University Rector Vice Admiral (r) Tanveer Faiz HI(M) expressed his gratitude to Chief of the Naval Staff and Pro-Chancellor of Bahria University, Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah NI(M), for his presence in the convocation. He congratulated the students and appreciated the efforts of the Bahria University for providing the most conducive academic environment, state-of-the art labs and highly qualified faculty for its postgraduate and undergraduate students. He further added that Bahria University has done its best to equip the students with necessary professional skills, arranged training sessions for communication and interpersonal skills for their grooming and above all, taught them guidance to conduct their lives with honour and respect. He encouraged the graduating students and asked them to maintain their confidence and remain abreast with the latest developments taking place in their lives. He acknowledged the role of HEC, Punjab Government and Ministry of IT for sponsoring number of scholarships for Students of Bahria University as they are helping to provide an opportunity to students coming from low income background to pursue education.
In the end, Rector of Bahria University congratulated the students and their parents, wishing them a prosperous future and also appreciated the students who achieved medals for the outstanding performance.
