CT scan machines to be installed in all districts: Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the provincial government has decided to install CT scan machines in 36 districts of the province as a result of which CT scan facility will become available to the people at their doorstep.

 A high-level delegation of Turk Ministry of Health met the chief minister here on Saturday. The meeting agreed upon speedy implementation of the agreement signed between Punjab government and Turk Health Ministry during recent visit of Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding improvement of healthcare in the province. 

Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that steps would be taken expeditiously for the development of healthcare in the light of the agreement signed with Ministry of Health Turkey and no effort would be spared in this regard. He said that core groups had been constituted for implementation of the agreement and responsibilities assigned to them. He said that maximum improvement would be made in healthcare of the province by benefiting from modern technology and Turk expertise. Shahbaz Sharif said that under the agreement, health information management and public health agency would be established. He said that model of Turkey regarding health management system would be replicated in hospitals. He thanked Turk brethren for their cooperation in improving healthcare in Punjab.

The chief minister said that Punjab government had decided to install CT scan machines in 36 districts of the province and this facility would be available round the clock to the people.

He said that centralised system of procurement of medicines had been introduced in the province for checking spurious medicines. He said that the samples of the medicines purchased were being checked from best lab of the world.

He said that steps were being taken for harmonising drug labs with international standard. He said that such a system of medicines had been introduced under which the poor and the rich would use the same medicine. He said difference of medicine of the poor and the rich was being eliminated due to centralised system of procurement of medicines. 

The Turk delegation head, Dr Selami Kilic, said that Shahbaz Sharif was playing the role of a great leader of Pakistan.

He said that leadership of Turkey and people had great respect for Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

He said that Shahbaz Sharif had supported Turkey on every occasion and every person of Turkey was thankful to him for his love and support for Turkey. He said that every person of Turkey was thankful to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and government of Pakistan for their moral support during failed coup in Turkey. He said that people of Pakistan and Turkey were brethren and always ready to extend all-out cooperation with each other. He appreciated the vision and efforts of Shahbaz Sharif regarding improvement of healthcare. 

Senior expert of Turk Ministry of Health Dr Hasan Cagil said that the agreement made for improvement of Punjab healthcare will be speedily implemented in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that Turk government would work with Punjab government at every level for improving healthcare.

He said a road map was being evolved along with team of Punjab government for the improvement of Punjab healthcare. He said that a phased programme would be implemented for bringing about improvement in the system of hospitals. He expressed the hope that their joint efforts would soon yield results.

Members of the delegation inquired after the chief minister and expressed good wishes for him.

Health Adviser Khawaja Salman Rafique, Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir, Khawaja Ahmed Hassaan, additional chief secretary, Planning and Development chairman and PKLI President Prof Dr Saeed Akhtar were also present.
