NA-258 by-election deferred to November 28
ECP notification cites ‘various operational and internal security commitments’ as the reason for postponement
The by-election to National Assembly constituency, NA-258, has been postponed till November 28, as per a notification issued on Tuesday by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Scheduled to be held on November 24, the ECP issued a communiqué yesterday which cited ‘various operational and internal security commitments’ as the reason for the decision.
The statement read: “the date of polling for by-election in constituency number NA-258, Karachi XX, in pursuance of Section 11A of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1976 (LXXXV of 1976) and Article 254 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, due to various operational and internal security commitments the commission announces the new date of the by-poll in the aforementioned constituency as November 28, instead of Nov 24.”
