Hunger games

According to the HDI, 60.3 percent of the country’s population makes under $1 a day. Nearly 39 percent of Pakistanis remain in multidimensional poverty, with the highest rates of poverty in Fata and Balochistan. The obvious cause of poverty includes growing unemployment, lack of foreign investment, use of obsolete technology, the absence of credit facilities, improper income distribution, high rate of inflation, etc. Also, the high-rated taxes discourage local industries.

If proper steps are taken, the country could defeat the vicious circle of poverty. The government should provide such facilities to investors which allow them to invest in the country. An increase in the foreign investment will pave the way for the employment opportunities. The government should also use up-to-date machinery in agriculture and industrial sectors. Credit facilities should be easily available to the people so that they can run small-scale businesses. The government should take adequate steps to curb corruption from the country because corruption also deters the growth of the country leaving a certain class of the country in poverty.
