1.5 lakh laptops to be given to students: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired a meeting to review progress of matters of procurement of laptops for talented girl and boy students of the province. 

Giving approval to purchase 1.5 lakh laptops immediately during current financial year, the CM said process of procurement of laptops should be completed at the earliest and laptops of latest model should be purchased for the students. He said the programme of distribution of laptops on merit is an important step towards empowering the youth. He said the Punjab government has already distributed lakhs of laptops at a cost of billions of rupees among talented students while 1.5 lakh more laptops of billions of rupees will be distributed on merit during current financial year.

According to a handout, Shahbaz Sharif directed that no delay should be tolerated in the matters of purchase of laptops and all the matters should be completed immediately in a transparent manner. Youths are being harmonised with latest demands of present age with the distribution of laptops and becoming aware of new inventions and changing situation throughout the world through laptops, he added. The CM said that provision of resources for empowering the youth is a useful investment and the Punjab government will provide all out resources for the programmes of awareness of youth about modern knowledge. He said benefitting from information technology is need of the hour that is why effective steps have been taken for the promotion of information technology in the province. Empowering youth through equipping them with modern knowledge is our mission, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the programme of distribution of laptops among youth on merit is yielding positive results. He said that education is the only way through which trends of extremism can be eliminated from the society. Punjab government has taken revolutionary steps for the promotion of quality education and modern knowledge, he added. He said that IT labs have been set up a cost of billions of rupees in the schools of the province.

Sherazi Brothers: Sherazi Brothers of PML-N from Sindh called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Speaking on the occasion, the CM said self-less service to people is pivot of the politics of PML-N and billions of rupees are being spent on the programmes of raising the living standard of people and provision of basic facilities to them. He said today’s Pakistan is safer, peaceful and economically stable compared to 2013 and national economy has been strengthened. He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan is making rapid progress. He said the PML-N government is determined to overcome energy crisis and terrorism. The country will be rid of the challenges by using collective efforts and sagacity, he added.

According to a handout, Shahbaz Sharif said Pakistan Muslim League-N government has always given priority to national interests and PML-N promoted decency, accommodation and democratic norms in politics. He said PML-N government has promoted exemplary culture of transparency which is also being acknowledged at international level while national resources were looted ruthlessly under the garb of development projects in the past. PML-N government has saved national resources of more than 200 billion rupees in development projects during the last three and a half years, he added.

The CM said that the true politics of transparency and service has defeated the negative politics of lies and allegations on every occasion and the defeated elements trying to divide the nation have now been divided. Those who met the CM included MNA Ayaz Ali Shah Sherazi, former MNA Syed Shafqat Hussain Sherazi and District President PML-N, Thatha, Hanif Memon.

Sherazi Brothers belonging to Sindh have appreciated the steps taken by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif regarding promotion of transparency culture in speedy development and projects in Punjab. They said that selfless service of the people of the province by Shahbaz Sharif through his unprecedented capabilities was an example which should be followed by other provinces. According to a handout, they said that Shahbaz Sharif had not only improved law & order in the province but living standard of the people had also been raised. Whenever they come to Punjab they become happy to see the progress here, they added. They said that people of the province were benefitting from the development vision of Shahbaz Sharif. It is their desire that work should be carried out in other provinces on the pattern Shahbaz Sharif is forwarding public welfare programmes with quality and speed, they added. 

Cheque given to mountaineer: A cheque of financial assistance for Rs 2500,000 has been given to mountaineer Hassan Sadpara on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. 

Rawalpindi DCO, Talat Mehmood Gondal, gave the cheque to Abid Hassan, son of Hassan Sadpara. Hassan Sadpara is under treatment in Rawalpindi. The CM prayed for early recovery of Hassan Sadpara.
