The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in Islamabad has started charging Rs26 as an additional service charge to the normal fee of Rs3000 for the issuance of a passport. It is a nominal amount but the aggregated fee received by the bank will be quite significant. Hundreds of people apply for new passports on a daily basis.
No bank charges for its services on deposits of telephone, electricity or gas bills. Will someone from the passport and immigration department look into this action of the NBP.
