KARACHI: Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) has restarted its Blast Furnace-II after 10 days of outrage, a company statement said on Thursday.
“The restart of the plant helped taking the day production at 44 percent,” said Shazim Akhtar, spokesman, in the statement. The furnace was shut down for repair work on December 20. “Production from second BF would be increased gradually, while production from BF-I will be maintained at around current production level,” the spokesman said.
The Blast Furnace-I gave 60 percent production to the mills
The current average production of last four months stood at 44 percent. It will be increased upto 50 percent in the next month of January 2015, and upto 60 percent in February.
“The management is likely to achieve breakeven point that is 77 percent CAPU (current average capacity production utilization) in the first quarter of 2015,” Akhtar said.
Pakistan Steel has received Rs15.5 billion so far from the government under the current bailout package of the total of Rs19 billion. This has helped the mill to increase its capacity production, he said.
