KTH promotes, appoints doctors

PESHAWAR: After the recommendation of selection and promotion committee and approved by the Board of Governors (BoG), the Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) on Saturday promoted a number of doctors to the rank of professors and associate professors.

The newly promoted doctors would be working on probation for a period of one year, extendable for another one year.

Their services will be governed under the MTI Act 2015 and rules and regulations.

Dr Irshad Ahmad and Dr Fazle Rahim were promoted as professors of Paediatric Department, Dr Mohammad Ayaz Khan was promoted as professor of Orthopedic Department, Dr Shahida Tasneem professor of Histopathology Department, Dr Saleem Iqbal was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor Medicine Department and Dr Inayatullah from assistant professor to associate professor of ENT Department.

In Paediatric Department, the two positions of professor fell vacant after the retirement of Dr Nadim Khawar and Dr Amin Jan Gandapur.

The post of professor in Orthopedic Department became vacant when Dr Zafar Durrani retired recently.

Earlier, there was one orthopedics unit in KTH, but the second unit was created a few years ago to manage workload.

Dr Zahid Askar has been made head of Orthopedic Department following Prof Zafar Durrani’s retirement.

Former chief executive KTH Dr Inayat Shah Roghani availed leave prior to retirement (LPR).

He played a remarkable role in upgradation of Radiology Department KTH, bringing the latest machines and training hundreds of doctors.

The KTH administration also appointed 10 consultants

For the Accident and Emergency Department (A&E) on fixed pay Rs120, 000 for a period of one year, extendable on performance basis.

Medical Director KTH Prof Roohul Muqim hoped it would improve the services of Accident and Emergency Department.
