RIS Metropolitan RYMUN begins in capital

The Roots Youth Model United Nations 2k16 commenced with an inauguration ceremony integrating mesmerizing Chinese, German, Turkish, Egyptian, African and other global ethnic presentations by talented students of the Roots International Schools.

The opening ceremony included performances by students depicting and highlighting diverse colours of different ethos. These representations incorporated cultural harmony and peace around the globe. The presentations were meticulously appreciated by all the guests as well as the delegates.

The ceremony officially commenced by the speech of RYMUN Secretary General Shamir Butt and the Director General Arbaz Khan. Later, Adviser to Metropolitan RYMUN 2K16 President, Palwasha Iftikhar Malik also greeted the guests officially.

Students from various campuses of Roots International Schools (RIS) gave electrifying performances at the inauguration ceremony. On the occasion, the Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Baligh-ur-Rehman and the Minister of Planning, National Reforms, and Development, Ahsan Iqbal also graced with their presence.

While addressing the audience, Baligh-ur-Rehman stated how RYMUN provides the chance to all participants to develop their communication, negotiation, and cooperation skills and also sharpen the sensitivity and analysis skills in understanding many of the world’s conflicts and problems. He added that the young generation gets immensely benefitted by conferences such as these, since they provide a platform to all the students to assess the critical strategic problems and the evaluation of the UN Security Council in addressing pressing issues such as the Independence of Kashmir.

Ahsan Iqbal talked about the vital role of youth in a country’s development and explained how the world needs their active engagement. He said that the youth of the country have the potential to make Pakistan more peaceful, prosperous and developed country. Ahsan Iqbal pointed out that today's Pakistan had changed as compared to that of 2013 and country has come out of various crisis which it was facing in 2013.

As many as 1000 delegates from across Pakistan are participating in the Metropolitan RYMUN’16 Conference and they will discuss multilateral issues including countering violent extremism, ensuring freedom of expression, adapting to climate change and promoting the human rights of migrant workers, says a press statement issued here on Thursday.

The inaugural ceremony of Metropolitan RYMUN’16 was embellished by the manifestation of Ambassador of Tunisia, Ambassador of Bosnia, Muhammad Omar, the First Secretary to the Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan. All the ambassadors appreciated the students’ efforts and highlighted the expectations they have about the impending four days and motivated students to accomplish with the same enthusiasm and vitality.
