Two MQM men among nine suspects held by Rangers

Two activists of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were arrested by the Sindh Rangers on Monday and, on their pointation, a large cache of weapons was also recovered.

The paramilitary force further arrested seven criminals, including six drug peddlers and a target killer, from New Karachi and Korangi Town. Weapons and narcotics were also seized.

A Rangers spokesman said the two MQM men, identified as Muhammed Ali and Hassan Raza, were apprehended in intelligence-based operations conducted in Qasba Aligarh and Orangi Town.

The weapons found on the suspects’ information include a light-machine gun, seven sub-machine guns with eight magazines, two .222 rifles, three Repeaters, two 8mm pistols with five magazines, two 7mm rifles with a magazine, three 30 bore pistols, two 9mm pistols and an MP-5 with five magazines. Hundreds of bullets of different calibers were also found.

 

Five dead in mishaps

Five people lost their lives while a man got injured in different incidents across city on Monday.

Riding a motorcycle, Henry William, 30 was killed and his unidentified, 24-year-old friend was injured, when a reckless water tanker ran over him near Sultan Masjid within Darakshan police limits.

An unknown, 30-year-old man passed away when a speeding mini truck rammed into his motorcycle near Chamra Chowrangi within Korangi Industrial Area police jurisdiction.

While crossing a road, another unidentified, 65-year-old man was killed, when a vehicle hit him near Clifton Bypass within Boat Basin police area.

Owing to accidental electrocution in a paper mill industry situated in Korangi Industrial Area, Ali Sheir, 35, died as he repaired a machine.

In an attempt to acquire an illegal connection, Owais Nizam, 14, also lost his life after getting accidentally electrocuted at his residence in Federal .B. Area residence situated in Block 16 within in Yousuf Plaza police jurisdiction.
