Islamabad: As many as 30 faculty members from various higher education institutions across Pakistan attended the 28th Master Trainers-Faculty Development Programme organised by Higher Education Commission (HEC). The program concluded Thursday at HEC secretariat.

Chairman HEC Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed was chief guest at the certificate distribution ceremony. Executive Director HEC Dr. Arshad Ali, and Adviser Learning Innovation Shaheen Khan were also present on the occasion.

The faculty development program has been designed specifically for in-service teachers who spend this time in rigorous training. The program includes Micro Teaching sessions to renovate teaching skills of the participants. Besides intensive training modules, general topics were strategically inter-mingled with regular course modules. Recreational and study trips were also arranged for the participants.

Sharing their experiences, the faculty members said that the program provided them with a highly rich experience, as it provided them an opportunity to meet people from different parts of Pakistan and witness a high level of harmony and unity. They said that they learnt a lot about theoretical research methodology, need for critical thinking, and how to plan a program with HEC funding.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman said that teachers are assets for any nation and they are responsible for shaping the thought-process. He urged the faculty members to spread hope among their students and teach their students the importance of tolerance in life.

“Different segments of our society need integration and teachers have a very important role to play in that context. Remember that your students should not only excel in their respective disciplines but they should also become good human beings,” he stressed while advising the teachers to disseminate best practices of learning to their students.
