‘Kidnapper’ SHO arrested in raid
Karachi
The District West police and officials of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) in a joint raid on Sunday nabbed an SHO allegedly involved in kidnappings for ransom, according to a Sindh police spokesman.
Police claimed they had received complaints of two businessmen, Nazeer Ahmed and Zakir Husain, disappearing from the Saeedabad police station – located in District West – on August 26, 2016. Later their relatives received a phone call demanding a ransom of Rs1.5 million. On being informed of the call, the police and AVCC formed teams to locate the abductees. The officials claimed they traced the ransom call to the Tipu Sultan police station.
Both abductees were recovered from the police station while the SHO was arrested. An FIR was registered with the District West police and the investigation was handed over to the AVCC.
