Militant held in Charsadda

 CHARSADDA: The police arrested a suspected militant associated with the outlawed militant group, Lashkar-e-Islam, at a checkpoint in Kala Dher village here on Monday, an official said.Station House Officer Imran Khan said the police arrested Ahmadullah at a roadside checkpoint in Kala Dher.He said the police recovered arms and ammunition from the militant and began interrogating him.

 

Fata MNA opens work on uplift schemes in Jamrud

JAMRUD: Member National Assembly (MNA) Shajee Gul Afridi on Tuesday inaugurated two bridges and one drinking water scheme in Jamrud tehsil of the Khyber Agency. Speaking on the occasion, he said no effort would be spared to serve the people. He said the uplift funds would be spent on the welfare of the people. The MNA said the government should abolish the Frontier Crimes Regulation and merge the tribal areas into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He added that the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) would witness development and prosperity as the government had located millions of rupees for uplift schemes in the tribal areas. Meanwhile, 2,000 workers of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat hailing from various villages in Landikotal tehsil in Khyber Agency announced joining Karwan-e-Alhaj group.

 

Pakistan concerned over delay in

Samjhauta Express attack probe

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Tuesday conveyed its grave concern to India over unnecessary delay in the free and fair investigation of Samjhauta Express terrorist attacks in which more than 42 innocent Pakistani nationals lost their lives.The Indian attempts to exonerate some of the individuals involved in the attacks have raised serious questions over the due process of law and dispensation of justice, Foreign Office said in a statement issued here. We also call upon the Indian government to share information about the investigation proceedings of the terrorist attacks, the statement added.

 

Grenade wounds two kids in Upper Dir

PESHAWAR: A hand grenade exploded Tuesday, wounding two school children, one critically, as they were playing with it in Upper Dir valley village, police said.The incident took place at a primary school in Dhob Darra of northwestern Upper Dir valley, where Taliban militants have been active. Two children who came to school early found a grenade lying on the ground. They picked it up and started playing with it before removing its pin, senior police official Zahid Khan said. One of the children was critically wounded while the other had light injuries, Khan said, adding that police suspect militants had left the grenade there.

 

Six suspects held in Harnai

QUETTA: Frontier Corps Balochistan conducted raid in Shahrag area of Harnai district on Tuesday and arrested six suspects. A spokesman for FC said here that acting on a tip off, FC raided a house in Shahrag area and took six suspects into custody on suspicion of having relations with an outlawed militant organisation. The accused are being interrogated.
