Wakeup call?
This refers to the article, ‘The Quetta tragedy: a wakeup call’ (Aug 21) by Ayaz Wazir. While analysing the situation, the writer completely overlooked the confessional statement of Kulbhushan Yadav. Modi himself acknowledged India’s involvement in Balochistan while delivering a speech on Independence Day. These are not imagined conspiracies but ground realities. This was not a routine suicide attack. Achakzai’s speech in the National Assembly was untimely.
Our law-enforcement agencies are doing their best to counter suicide bombers but no one can control someone willing to die. Let us not isolate a Pakhtun family sleeping under the open sky as IDPs and a Baloch family not having access to drinking water in Gwadar. This situation exists everywhere in Pakistan. Wake up call for whom?
