Students went to school for the first time after the two months long summer vacation on Monday as the government’s educational institutions in the Islamabad Capital Territory began the new academic year.

Moderate attendance was reported in the schools of urban areas and low in those on the city’s outskirts.

All educational institutions overseen by the Federal Directorate of Education in the ICT had closed campuses for summer vacation on June 1.

During the vacation, repairs and maintenance was carried out in these schools and colleges totalling more than 400.

Though wearing new uniforms and holding new bags, most students, especially those of junior sections, returned to school with a heavy heart.

Having been away from schools since June 1 due to summer vacation, they struggled to get back to studies due to the holiday hangover.

The teachers opined that normalcy would return to schools in a day or two.

Meanwhile, the city’s private educational institutions are slated to resume classes after summer vacation next week, August 15 to be exact.  They had closed campuses on May 30 in light of the rising temperatures.
