Partly cloudy weather is expected in the provincial capital today (Sunday) with chances of thunderstorm and rain. Moreover, surge in river flows is also expected, creating flood like situation.
According to Met office, monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during next 24 to 48 hours. Under the influence of these meteorological conditions, rain thunderstorm with a few heavy falls is expected at scattered places of upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal divisions), Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while at isolated places south Punjab (D.G.Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur divisions). During the past 24 hours, maximum and minimum temperature recorded in the city was 34C and 27C respectively.
