Imran, while commenting upon Turkish failed coup, said that the people of Pakistan would welcome such a coup by distributing sweets. This shows Khan’s state of mind. He seems to be obsessed with becoming the PM of Pakistan – through means fair or foul. He is looking for a piggyback to be carried into the PM house. He only pays lip service to British parliamentary democracy. In fact he has demonstrated his authoritarian character on many occasions.
Imran is also in the habit of making unsubstantiated statements and refuses to retreat when proven wrong. He must now realise that the ‘third umpire’ is not interested in intervening under the existing national and international environment and Dr Qadri is in no position to act as his ‘big brother’ this time around. Instead of playing negative politics and destabilising the country, he should wait for 2018 to try his luck in the general elections.
