SECP releases EquiSmart policy draft for women
ISLAMABAD: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has released a draft of the EquiSmart Policy for Women 2025-2028.
It is the first comprehensive framework for women’s equality in the capital market, insurance, non-banking finance and corporate sectors. The policy is based on six core pillars: women’s leadership on boards, gender-disaggregated reporting, women’s entrepreneurial activities, gender-smart products, workplace inclusion, and institutional capacity building. It includes current practical steps, existing gaps, and actionable recommendations with key stakeholders and a set timeframe.
The draft framework reflects a shift in SECP’s strategy, adopting a systematic regulatory approach to women’s inclusion rather than isolated efforts in different sectors, in line with national priorities and global frameworks.
