Everybody knows that, ever since the end of World War II, the US has played a very negative role in international affairs. It has waged undeclared wars in practically every corner of the world. Most of these conflicts were engineered willfully, the standard excuse being that they were containing the spread of communism or protecting the democratic process. Accordingly, the world witnessed the overthrow of the democratic prime minister of Iran Mohammad Mossaddegh on August 15 the 1943, followed by the brutal murder of Prime Minister Patrice Lumumba of the democratic republic of Congo on January 17 1961 and then the overthrow of Salvador Allendes democratic government in Chile in September 1973.
We are now witnessing the same game being played out in the Middle East. Those countries of the Middle East that refused to fall in line have been systematically decimated. The last of these, namely Iran, is now under attack by Israel with support from its allies. Irrespective of the results of the outcome of this provoked conflict, it is time that the leading powers of the world, including Europe, cast aside their fears and stand on the side of international law and justice.
