Phase-wise cleaning operation under way

LAHORE:The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has launched a phase-wise special cleaning operation in 9 towns across Lahore.

The LWMC has launched a zero-waste operation in Gulberg Town with over 1,000 sanitation workers and 134 operational vehicles. Mechanical washing, manual sweeping, and scraping activities were also completed along Ferozepur Road. To ensure efficient door-to-door waste collection, 170 loader rickshaws have been deployed throughout the town. Regular mechanical sweeping and washing activities are underway on Ferozepur Road, Main Boulevard Gulberg, MM Alam Road, and Noor Jehan Road. Additionally, early morning special cleaning operations have been completed in key commercial zones including Ali Zaib Road, Main Market, Mini Market, Liberty Market, and Barkat Market. Special cleaning teams have also been deployed in areas around Garden Town, Jevan Hana Pind, and Qaddafi Stadium. The cleanliness drive continues in other parts of the city as well, such as Kalma Chowk Flyover, Maulana Shaukat Ali Road, Model Town, Peco Road, Model Town Link Road, and the vicinity of Ittefaq Hospital. LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din in a statement said the company’s zero waste operation is being implemented across the city. He emphasised that container clearance and door-to-door waste collection are being ensured daily.
