LAHORE:In a significant decision to ensure public safety ahead of Eidul Azha, the Punjab government has imposed a complete ban on temporarily installed mechanical rides during the Eid holidays.
According to the spokesperson for Home Department, this ban applies specifically to mechanical rides that are set up temporarily during Eid holidays. Mechanical rides permanently installed in amusement parks across the province are exempted from this ban with a condition to get the fitness certificate.
The home department has made it mandatory for owners and operators of these permanent mechanical rides to obtain a fitness certificate from the respective deputy commissioner. Under the directives issued by the home department, the district administrations will verify that every mechanical ride meets all necessary safety standards before issuing the fitness certificate.
The spokesperson clarified that the ban does not apply to permanently installed rides that comply with all the security protocols. He added that the decision to ban temporary and mobile mechanical rides has been made to protect human lives. During the Eid holidays, a large number of citizens, especially children, use these rides.
Temporary rides often fail to meet security protocols and pose a significant threat to valuable lives due to overloading. Therefore, a complete ban on temporary mechanical rides will remain in effect throughout the Eid holidays. The home department has instructed all deputy commissioners across the province to ensure strict enforcement of this order.
