Maryam abolishes birth and death registration fee in Punjab
CM directed authorities concerned to provide immediate and best medical assistance to injured
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has abolished birth and death registration fee in the province.
“Identity is a fundamental right of every citizen, we want to create convenience for citizens,” said Maryam Nawaz while abolishing the birth and death registration fee charged from applicants for years.
She said, “Death and Birth Digital Certificate is mandatory to get services. By registering births and deaths on time, we can ensure protection of civil rights of citizens.”
She directed the authorities concerned to effectively implement “Birth & Death Registration Rules 2025” in Punjab, under which birth and death registration fee has been abolished.
The chief minister said, “Birth and Death Registration can be done free of charge throughout Punjab. Citizens can have the registration in Union Councils and Municipal Committees free of charge for 7 years.”
She highlighted, “The condition of court decree for the late registration of birth and death in Punjab has also been abolished. Birth and Death Computerized Certificates will also be issued free of charge.”
Meanwhile, she expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in various accidents due to strong winds and rain in the province. She offered condolences and extended her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families. She directed the authorities concerned to provide immediate and best medical assistance to the injured.
The chief minister directed the relevant authorities of Rescue 1122, PDMA and district administration to intensify rehabilitation and relief activities, besides submitting a detailed report on the damages done. She said, “Punjab government is with the affected families in this hour of grief. All possible measures are being taken to protect lives and property of people in severe weather conditions.”
