The recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India offers a much-needed respite following a dangerous conflict amplified by digital misinformation. This fragile peace presents an opportunity for both nations to reassess their approaches. Both nations, burdened by internal challenges like poverty and illiteracy, cannot afford further conflict and must prioritise the well-being of the Kashmiri people while seeking a peaceful resolution.
This conflict also highlighted the critical need for responsible journalism and enhanced digital literacy. The spread of propaganda for ratings eroded public trust and understanding. Moving forward, both India and Pakistan should focus on internal development and cooperation, fostering an environment where peace and the prosperity of their citizens, including those in Kashmir, takes precedence over conflict and misinformation.
