HARIPUR: The body of a young picnicker who had drowned in the Khanpur Dam, was recovered here on Friday. According to Raja Hanif Ahsan Kiyani, president of Khanpur Boats Association, the body of the young man was found floating on Friday morning at the same point where the boat had overturned eight days back in the Khanpur dam.
He said that the local divers rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Tehsils Headquarters Hospital with the help of officials of the rescue department where the man was identified as Suleman, 20, a resident of Peshawar. His body was later shifted to the native area for burial.
On the afternoon of May 1, a windstorm left a boat overturned in the middle of the Khanpur reservoir drowning six of a family from Peshawar. However, the local drivers and boatmen rushed to the scene and rescued five of them, including a woman and three children, but Suleman could not be rescued.
