Solarisation of public buildings: CM directs officials to initiate work on project by May 1

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday directed the relevant authorities to initiate work on the “Solarisation of Public Buildings and Private Houses” project by 1st May this year.

An official handout said that he was chairing the second meeting of the committee constituted to oversee the project.The chief minister directed the officials that preparations for the solarisation of public buildings should be completed within two months.

He instructed them that a project for the installation of solar streetlights in divisional headquarters should be carried out through energy services companies.The meeting reviewed the progress made on this project.

Cabinet members, administrative secretaries and other officials attended the meeting.The meeting decided to carry out the solarisation of public buildings through energy services companies, and the relevant authorities were directed to prepare a viable financial model to ensure the execution of the project.

It is worth mentioning that under this scheme, all public buildings, including offices, universities, colleges, prisons, police stations, hospitals, tube-wells will be converted to solar energy.The meeting was briefed that approximately 23,000 public buildings had been identified across the province for this project.
