LHC defers PFF case hearing
KARACHI: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday set a new date for hearing in the contempt of court case against Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) president Faisal Saleh Hayat as his counsel Asma Jehangir pleaded for a deferral.
This correspondent learnt that the court has set June 30 for the next hearing.
The contempt of court case was initiated against Faisal after the PFF elections on June 30 last year because it was against an order issued by LHC on June 29. The court has declared the elections null and void.
The court has also constituted a three-member committee and given it the task of holding PFF and Punjab Football Association (PFA) elections within four months.
FIFA, which backs Faisal-led PFF, gave two years to Faisal in September last year with the instructions that the PFF constitution be revised and fresh elections be held by September 2017. But this advice has not been followed because of the legal battle between two groups.
