Three ‘most-wanted terrorists’ arrested in Korangi

The Sindh Rangers and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh police conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Korangi area and arrested three most-wanted terrorists affiliated with a banned militant group.

The arrested suspects were identified as Inamullah, alias Lala, Naeemullah, alias Umar Zali, and Muhammad Taib. According to a spokesperson for the Rangers, the men were involved in multiple terrorist activities and attacks on security forces. They were reportedly associated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur (HGB) faction of the Taliban.

The law enforcers also seized weapons, ammunition and explosive materials from their possession. The Rangers spokesperson said Naeemullah joined the HGB group in 2014 and was considered a key member of the group. His father Momin Khan and uncle Saleemullah were senior commanders of the group involved in several attacks on security forces who were killed in security operations.

Naeemullah is a trained militant and who participated in multiple operations in Waziristan. He had recently moved to Karachi to organise the group’s local network. Inamullah joined the group in 2017 and was highly active in the Jani Khel area of Waziristan working under Commander Abdul Hameed, alias Fikarmand, the Rangers spokesperson said. He participated in several attacks on security forces alongside other militants.

His brother Hidayatullah was also an active member of the HGB group in Waziristan. Recently, Inamullah had been working to establish and facilitate the group’s network in Karachi. Taib, alias Muhammad, joined the HGB group in 2023 after the death of his brother Abdul Razzaq. Since then, he had been operating in Karachi, providing logistics support to the terrorist group. The arrested terrorists were allegedly planning terrorist activities in Karachi.
