May 9 violence case: PTI lawyers skip ATC hearing
Total of 69 PTI workers are currently out on bail in connection with case
MARDAN: The lawyers representing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers failed to appear before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday in the May 9 violence case, leading to the postponement of the hearing until Monday.
A total of 69 PTI workers are currently out on bail in connection with the case.
In a video shared on social media, PTI members Sahibzada Mohmand, Shahid Siraj, and others alleged that their lawyers, who had initially promised to represent them free of charge, were now demanding fees and refusing to appear in court.
The PTI workers stated that they, along with others, had been granted bail following the May 9 incidents.
However, Advocate Alamgir Hamza told the media that lawyers Arif Rasool, Tila Muhammad, and Sajjad Ahmed were still representing PTI workers without any fees.
He said the lawyers decided to withdraw from the case due to, what he alleged was, inappropriate behavior of PTI workers, not because of fee demand. Alamgir reaffirmed his support for PTI founder Imran Khan, emphasizing that the issue was not about fees but about the conduct of party workers.
