Another British examination board, the Learning Resource Network (LRN), has been formally launched in Pakistan. The launching ceremony was held at the British Deputy High Commission, and was addressed by British Deputy Head of Mission Martin Dawson.

British educationist and LRN Assessment Manager Angelica de Paiva, LRN CEO Tariq Zohaib, Ziauddin University Pro Chancellor Dr Nida Asim, a British school’s CEO Russell Collins, Samra Peeran and others also spoke on the occasion.

The ceremony was also attended by president’s adviser and former Sindh Higher Education Commission chairman Dr Asim Hussain, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (Sakrand) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Farooque Hassan, and heads of various schools.

On this occasion, Dr Khadija Mushtaq was given the Lifetime Achievement Award for Educational Services, which was received by her daughter Neha Mushtaq. Dawson said education plays a significant role in the transformation of society and economic development, and that is why Britain attaches great importance to it.

He said the British education system is the best in the world, and has been adopted by 150 countries. Angelica said that there is no shortage of talent in Pakistan, and Pakistani children are among the brightest children. Explaining the purpose of establishing the LRN, she said: “We are bringing GCSE, AS, A levels and other programmes to Pakistan.”

Zohaib said the LRN is a recognised awarding organisation that offers a range of qualifications to candidates, educational institutions, training providers, schools and employers. “Our fees are less than half compared to other British boards.” Dawson also cut a cake on the occasion.
