Islamabad : The German Embassy in Islamabad hosted its yearly alumni event, bringing together a diverse group of scholars and fellows who have studied and conducted research in Germany.

The gathering, which attracted a large number of alumni from leading German initiatives like German Academic Exchange Service, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and CrossCulture Programme, enabled attendees to reconnect and share their experiences.

First secretary (culture and education) at the German Embassy Jan Gerald Krausser kicked off the event with warm and welcoming remarks. He not only greeted the alumni but also highlighted the importance of the connections between Germany and Pakistan, emphasising the significance of academic and cultural exchanges in strengthening bilateral ties.

German Ambassador Alfred Grannas, who was also in attendance, acknowledged the significant contributions of the alumni in their respective fields.

"I take pride in the friendships that our alumni have cultivated with Germany and its academic and research institutions. These connections are mutually beneficial, as they bring together academic excellence from both countries. They stand as a shining example of German-Pakistani friendship and cooperation," he said.

The event’s main attraction was the insightful presentations from DAAD alumnus Dr. Faisal Abbas of the National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad, AvH alumna Dr. Samina Mehnaz from Forman Christian College University in Lahore, and CCP alumna Dr. Sumbal Shehbaz of the University of Lahore. Also, Shakeel Imtiaz, a graduate of a German Federal Foreign Office training programme and current member of the German Society of International Cooperation (GIZ), also shared his valuable experiences.
