Corrupt rulers
This letter refers to the news report ‘Verdict in GBP190 million case against Imran, Bushra today’ (January 17, 2025). The thrice-postponed verdict is finally out, and has hopefully started the long-overdue accountability process, without which the country cannot survive. The depth of degradation that massive corruption has brought us to can be judged from the fact that the only good news our rulers give us these days is the rollover of previous loans or securing of yet more loans, which our creditors seem to be getting sick and tired of because of the non-payment of the previous loans.
The recklessness of our rulers can be judged from the fact that a big slice of even this borrowed money gets spent on grandiose schemes, with little substance, floated mainly for personal publicity and buying cheap popularity. I have been wondering for quite some time now about just how much is too much?
