MoU signed on creating awareness about breast cancer
LAHORE:UET Zimal Society and Pink Ribbon Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to raise awareness about breast cancer and take initiatives to improve women's health. The agreement aimed to facilitate joint awareness campaigns, educational workshops, research projects, and the completion of Pakistan’s first dedicated Breast Cancer Hospital, which will provide treatment to 40,000 patients annually. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Munir said, 'UET is proud to collaborate with Pink Ribbon in addressing a critical health issue by leveraging the expertise of its faculty and students to create a societal impact.'
Dr Shahid Munir and CEO of Pink Ribbon Omer Aftab signed the documents. Zimal Society Adviser Dr Rehana Sharif, Registrar Muhammad Asif, Director External Linkages Dr Muhammad Shafiq, Zimal Society President Mahira Khalid, and others were also present at the MoU signing ceremony. Through this partnership, both organisations aim to educate the community, empower women, and provide better healthcare facilities. Prof Dr Shahid Munir emphasised the importance of this initiative, stating that UET is committed to improving women’s health and saving lives.
PU awards PhD degrees to 10 scholars
Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to 10 of its scholars. According to details, Irfan Munir has been awarded PhD degree in the subject of Sports Sciences & Physical Education, Ambreen Iftikhar in the subject of Education, Irum Sajjad Dar in the subject of Statistics, Shaista Awan in the subject of Urdu, Foqia Khalid in the subject of Environmental Sciences, Saria Hameed in the subject of Economics, Hafiza Simab Asghar in the subject of Botany, Huma Hafeez in the subject of Chemistry (Bio-Chemistry), Sajjad Hussain in the subject of Solid State Physics and Atqa Abdur Razzaq in the subject of Commerce.
Improving GCU’s int’l ranking discussed
Government College University (GCU) Lahore's Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah, convened a meeting on Friday with the heads of all academic and administrative departments to deliberate on the challenges confronting the university.
In the meeting, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali Shah stressed the importance of taking measures to improve GCU’s international ranking and enhance its academic excellence. 'Although my time and mandate at GCU are limited, I am dedicated to making impactful improvements.
