Four cops dismissed over corruption
LAHORE:Four police officers were dismissed over corruption and power abuse. Acting on the instructions of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, SSP Operations issued the dismissal orders following a thorough inquiry. According to the DIG Operations spokesperson, Head Constable M Nawaz and Constables Imtiaz, Humair-ul-Hassan, and Nauman Sajid were found guilty and were dismissed from service based on the inquiry report. The inquiry revealed that on November 5, when residents of Charsadda, Mustafa and Idris, returned to the bus station after shopping, the cops took them to an undisclosed location under the pretense of a security check and extorted Rs85,000 from them.
20 detained for defying anti-smog SOPs
Punjab Police arrested 20 people and booked 92 on charges of violating anti-smog SPOs in various districts, including Lahore, over the past 24 hours. The authorities concerned imposed Rs 642,000 fine on 390 individuals for causing pollution and issued 28 warnings to others. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, 23 incidents of stubble burning, 413 cases against owners of smoky vehicles, 31 industrial violations, 33 infractions at brick kilns, and 14 other breaches were reported in the last 24 hours.
Harasser held
Police arrested a man over the harassment charges near the Old Ravi Bridge. A woman called the emergency helpline 15 to inform the Virtual Women Police Station, reporting that a man was following her and attempting to harass her. The Virtual Women Police Station dispatched a police team to the location.
The police team, with the woman’s guidance, apprehended the accused. The spokesperson for PSCA reported that during questioning, the accused expressed remorse for his actions and assured he would not harass any woman in the future, which led the woman to forgive him.
