Abolish adjustment charges
By News Desk

According to the power minister, the termination of agreements with five IPPs will cut the average electricity tariff by around Rs0.71 per unit. He also said that the government will seek further contract reviews with other IPPs and state-owned power plants, which may lead to a further Rs8.0-10.0 reduction in the power tariff. This is all very appreciable, but what about the cruel system of ‘fuel adjustment charges’. Whenever the power companies want to levy these charges, the outcome is expensive electricity prices. My suggestion is to abolish these adjustment charges forever because Pakistan cannot move forward with these high electricity prices.
