Home department seeks report on jail affairs

LAHORE:Widespread corruption has been revealed in several jails across Punjab province. The Punjab government has formed a committee consisting of two senior officials. The committee will present a detailed report on the condition of the jails.
According to a report issued by the Punjab Home Department, evidence of corruption has been found in the jails of Hafizabad, Sialkot, Women’s Jail Multan, and Khanewal. Similarly, corruption has been reported in the jails of Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, and New Central Jail Bahawalpur. The committee formed by the Home Department includes DIG Jail Headquarters Salik Jalal and Deputy Secretary Jail.
