Kohistan dance video scandal: Man facing death decree by jirga seeks security
MANSEHRA: Bin Yaseer, who is allegedly facing a death decree by a Kohistan jirga in the dancing video scandal, on Friday demanded the government to enhance his security and that of his family.
“The death squad constituted at the order of jirga has already executed four of my brothers after a dancing video had surfaced on social media in 2011 and is now behind me and my other family members to eliminate us,” he told reporters.
Bin Yaseer and his family have been hiding somewhere in the Kolai-Palas district since the jirga proclaimed him, and his five brothers perverted (Chor) and issued their death decree after the dancing video went viral.
“The death squad which had executed nine people, five of them girls, so far were spotted near my hiding place in recent days,” he said.
The man said that the district police officer of Kolai-Palas in a letter written to him the other day warned him to limit activities and leave his hiding abode.“I have to take care of all the needs of my over 45 family members, most of them women and orphan children of my four brothers, and in such a situation, I have to move out of my hiding place,” Bin Yaseer explained.
He said that the Senate’s committee on Interior constituted after the murder of his brother, Afzal Kohistani, and the commissioner and deputy inspector general of Police of Hazara had recommended a squad of at least 13 personnel for his and his family’s security.“If the police don’t enhance my family’s security, we will meet the same fate my four brothers met who were executed one by one by the death squad,” Bin Yaseer feared.
