‘Clean drinking water top priority’

LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafiq and Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa presided over a meeting regarding sanitation and water filtration plants here on Saturday.

Addressing the meeting, the Minister of Local Government said that many problems will be solved if the water filtration plants operation goes to a single agency while Commissioner Lahore directed to check the water quality of all active water filtration plants. “Providing clean drinking water is top priority”.

Commissioner Lahore said that there are a total of 960 water plants in the city, of which 675 are active and 285 are inactive. MCL’s 79 out of 87 water filtration plants are operational while all 574 water filtration plants of WASA are operational. Commissioner Lahore said working has also been completed to activate all the water filtration plants in a phased manner. He also asked for details of filtration plants from Aab-e-Pak Authority, Public Health Engineering, School and Higher Education and other departments. Commissioner Lahore said that citizens can also send information and complaints regarding water filtration plants in their areas for timely action.
