The unidentified person who died in the fire at the Arshi Shopping Mall was finally identified on Sunday as 32-year-old Tariq .
The deceased was identified after a DNA test, following which his body was handed over to the representatives of the market union. The body was shifted to a cold storage before being taken for burial in the Yasinabad graveyard.
Five people had lost their lives in the shopping centre fire. Four of the casualties were identified, while the fifth victim who suffered 100 percent burn wounds remained unknown until the arrival of his DNA test result.
In the meantime, shopkeepers have been allowed by the authorities to retrieve their belongings from the burnt mall. As shopkeepers started retrieving the items that remained safe during the blaze, a fire brigade was stationed at the site. Shopkeepers were preparing a list of the saved items, while the representatives of the relevant Deputy Commissioner Office and Rescue 1122 were also present. No complaints of stolen items were reported so far, and police officers were overseeing the security.
